Leanna Depue, GHSA Secretary
Leanna Depue is Highway Safety Director for the Missouri Department of Transportation. Prior to this appointment, she was Director of the Missouri Safety Center at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg.
Dr. Depue has served as a member of the GHSA Executive Board for many years, and was elected Secretary in March of 2012. Other highway safety activities include membership on: the AASHTO Standing Committee on Highway Traffic Safety (serving as Vice-Chair of the Safety Management Subcommittee); the Bureau of Transportation Statistics Advisory Council; TRB Performance Management Committee; and the SHRP 2 Safety Technical Coordination Committee. She is also on the Board of Delegates to the National Safety Council, from whom she received a distinguished service to safety award in 2000. In addition, Dr. Depue is a state representative for the National Association of Women Highway Safety Leaders, Inc., and Past Chair of the TRB System Users Group.
Dr. Depue has participated in the International Scanning Program, sponsored by the Federal Highway Administration, the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO), and the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP). Through this program, she has had the privilege of visiting Finland, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, France, Australia, New Zealand, and Japan.She earned a B.S. degree in physical education and her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in health education, specializing in safety, all from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
