Association Announces Election Results
WASHINGTON, D.C.—At the recent Annual Meeting, GHSA members elected a slate of officers for the coming year.
GHSA's governing body is its Executive Board. The Board consists of a Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary and Treasurer, as well as representatives and alternates from 10 regions. All officers are elected by the membership and serve a term of one year.
The new officers are:
- Chair – Lt. Colonel Jim Champagne from Louisiana was elected to serve a second term.
- Vice Chair – Christopher J. Murphy, California
- Secretary – Lorrie Laing, Ohio
- Treasurer – Vernon Betkey, Maryland

The Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA)® is a nonprofit association representing the highway safety offices of states, territories, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. GHSA provides leadership and representation for the states and territories to improve traffic safety, influence national policy and enhance program management.
