AAA Foundation Seeking Research Ideas on Improving Traffic Safety Culture in the United States
AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety is planning the agenda for its long-term research focus area of safety culture by soliciting brief concept papers recommending specific areas of research or specific projects to be considered for funding in 2008 and beyond.
AAA Foundation is accepting recommendations for both:
- Basic research, focusing on defining and measuring safety culture, and
- Applied research, focusing on developing and evaluating programs, campaigns, or other strategies to motivate safe behaviors, increase public acceptance of or demand for evidence-based countermeasures, etc.

Concept papers should be brief (1-2 pages), clearly describe the research area or the specific project that is being recommended and justify why it is being recommended. AAA Foundation may request full proposals from authors of selected concept papers for research projects to be initiated in 2008 or 2009.
Please e-mail concept papers to Brian Tefft at btefft@aaafoundation.org.
