Transdermal Alcohol Monitoring Guide Available
The Traffic Injury Research Foundation (TIRF), recently published Continuous Transdermal Alcohol Monitoring: An Agency Administrator's Guide. The report was funded by a grant from Alcohol Monitoring Systems, Inc. This is the third report in a series on transdermal alcohol monitoring. Transdermal technology monitors alcohol consumption by measuring vaporous sweat excreted through the skin and is used to monitor drunk driving offenders.
The report is targeted toward agency administrators implementing continuous transdermal alcohol monitoring technology to supervise offenders with alcohol problems. It focuses on administrative concerns about program implementation.
The report contains three sections on: cultivating leadership and fostering agency support; organizing a preparatory field study, including strategies for training and dealing with the media; and evaluating the program through a cost/benefit analysis.
