Kansas City Annual Meeting to Focus on Technology

GHSA’s 2010 Annual Meeting will be held September 26-29 in Kansas City, Missouri. This year’s conference will focus on technology — specifically how highway safety practitioners can utilize technology’s benefits while overcoming its challenges to achieve zero deaths.

New Jersey GHSA Member Pam Fischer is chairing GHSA’s Annual Meeting Committee and developing the agenda. According to Fischer, “We know that in order to get toward zero deaths, states have to make better use of technological advances such as alcohol interlocks and automated enforcement. At the same time, we need to be able to address the host of electronic distractions in the vehicle to achieve the type of dramatic highway safety progress all of us seek.”

Missouri GHSA Member Leanna Depue serves as host of the meeting. She notes, “Kansas City is an exciting and vibrant city that attendees will love. After a full day of sessions and workshops, plan to step out and enjoy some legendary Kansas City barbeque and jazz music.” Depue and her staff are planning evening social events at the College Basketball Experience and at the National World War I Museum.

Conference registration materials will be available in May. If you didn’t attend the 2009 Annual Meeting or are not currently on GHSA’s Annual Meeting Mailing List, sign up to receive email updates.
