New Report Sets Teen Driver Safety Benchmarks
The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and State Farm Insurance Companies® recently published Miles to Go: Establishing Benchmarks for Teen Driver Safety, a report that creates a framework for monitoring the impact of teen driver safety initiatives.
The report outlines 11 specific indicators against which teen driver safety efforts can be measured, including fatality and injury numbers as well as information on key teen behaviors such as speeding, alcohol, seat belt use and distractions. Baseline data for all 11 indicators provide a current snapshot of teen driver safety in the U.S.
CHOP and State Farm plan to monitor progress using these indicators and will update the report regularly to determine the efficacy of current teen driver safety programs and help in planning future initiatives.
