With funding from a Ford Driving Skills for Life teen safe driving grant, the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security's Highway Safety Division created a video introducing parents to the driver education and licensing process.

Massachusetts requires parents to take a two-hour class during their teenager's driver education session, going over key points to keep in mind as their child learns to drive. This new video is being integrated into the Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) training syllabus, and will be used as the introduction to the parent education course. The video provides an outline of Ford DSFL course modules – hazard recognition, vehicle handling, speed management, space management, and the dangers of distracted and impaired driving – emphasizing that these are crucial skills for teens to learn as they begin driving. In addition, the video explains the stages of Massachusetts Graduated Driver Licensing, features an interview with the parents of a teen tragically killed in a crash, and encourages parents to have their children sign a safe driving pledge.
