Denise Alston is the Director of Finance and Administration for GHSA. Alston handles the day-to-day management of the headquarters office, including bookkeeping, accounting, grants and contracts, tax reports and filing, and administrative operations. She also serves as the team's Human Resources Liaison.
Alston has nearly 45 years of experience in the highway safety industry. She has worked with GHSA for more than 30 years and, prior to joining GHSA, spent 13 years with the Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Alston has received numerous awards for special task accomplishments as well as outstanding and high-quality performances. She graduated in 1977 and later took college courses to gain additional knowledge in accounting and bookkeeping procedures as well as to expand her knowledge of financial management tools.
Alston has considerable knowledge about all aspects of managing an office — professionalism, attention to detail, a high degree of organization, reliability, skill, responsiveness to requests, dedication and loyalty.
