GHSA 2019 Annual Meeting Agenda

GHSA Annual Meeting activities will occur August 24-28 in Anaheim, California. General conference programming begins the evening of Sunday, August 25, following meetings restricted to GHSA's Executive Board and State Highway Safety Office members during the day on the 24th and 25th.

Chief PicciottoWelcome Luncheon Speaker: Chief Richard Picciotto
Monday, August 26

Chief Richard Picciotto was the New York City Fire Department battalion commander in lower Manhattan when the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 occurred. Picciotto, who rushed into the World Trade Center towers along with his fellow firefighters, is the highest ranking firefighter who survived that day. Also a former New York Police Department officer, Picciotto will reflect on his harrowing experience during 9/11 and offer an insider’s knowledge of how courage and training helped save numerous lives. A true leader, Picciotto will provide attendees valuable takeaways for guiding teams through challenges and crises.

GHSA's annual Taste of the State Reception will be held the evening of Tuesday, August 27 at Splittsville Luxury Lanes in Downtown Disney. This fun location takes the traditional bowling experience to the next level; attendees will have the opportunity to bowl a few frames while networking with their highway safety colleagues and enjoying gourmet hors d'oeuvres and beverages.

Mary Lou RettonClosing Speaker: America's Best-Known Olympian Mary Lou Retton

GHSA is thrilled to announce that Olympic champion Mary Lou Retton will be our special guest speaker for the 2019 Annual Meeting Closing Luncheon on Wednesday, August 28. Retton, who catapulted to international fame by winning the All-Around Gold Medal in women’s gymnastics at the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, was the first American woman ever to win a gold medal in gymnastics. Having won the hearts of millions, Retton will inspire and motivate attendees as they reflect on the lessons learned at the Meeting. Be sure to plan your travel so you can attend this can't-miss event.
