U.S. traffic fatalities have increased to historic levels in 2021, with early NHTSA projections exceeding 40,000 deaths. Impaired driving fatalities generally account for nearly one-third of total fatalities. These deaths are 100% preventable. In response, the National Alliance to Stop Impaired Driving (NASID) will host their second national conference focused on multiple substance impaired driving prevention.

The conference will convene the nation’s foremost experts to examine the challenges and complexities of multiple substance impaired driving. Participants will engage in discussions about topics such as the National Road Safety Strategy safe systems approach, advanced technology to prevent impaired driving, public awareness campaigns, standardization of chemical testing protocols and more, and we will host a policymaker roundtable.

Each of us knows the significant challenges ahead in making our roads safer for our friends and family, and we need everyone’s help to reverse the alarming increases in traffic fatalities. Please join NASID and get involved in finding solutions to address multiple substance impaired driving.
