State of Knowledge and Practice for Automated License Plate Readers (ALPRs)

This project conducted a preliminary qualitative research on the feasibility of using ALPRs as countermeasures to improve traffic safety, concluding that ALPRs can be effective at identifying habitual traffic offenders, but law enforcement agencies should develop targeted goals and strictly enforce policies on data quality, security, and compliance with applicable laws and privacy issues.
