SAFE Program Specialist - Traffic Safety

For more than 40 years, DCCCA has been coordinating programs across the Midwest that provide behavioral health prevention and treatment services, recruit and train foster homes, support at risk children and youth, and traffic safety education and resources. DCCCA also cooperates with local, state, and national programs and associations to provide education, research, service, and resources when needed.

Position Overview

  • Schedules, plans and conducts SAFE educational and training events
  • Authors press releases and media information on occupant protection and the SAFE program and related events, activities and issues as necessary
  • Provides technical support to new and established SAFE teams
  • Provides information for the KTSRO website 
  •  Designs and develops statewide campaign materials and programs as requested 
  • Offers technical assistance to special interest groups, provides statistics, educational materials and other information to the media and general public as requested
  • Arranges SAFE event logistics when necessary
  • Prepares quarterly narrative reports on grant activities and accomplishments and submits other reports as requested
  • Selects, develops, edits and/or designs educational materials and promotional items
  • Travel across the state as necessary to fulfill this position's requirements


  • Requires bachelor's degree or equivalent experience 
  • Must possess community organization and facilitation experience
  • Must be able to interact with diverse groups
  • Requires a minimum of one year of related experience in community-based training or with a not-for-profit organization
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record
  • Must pass pre-employment background checks and drug screening
