What You'll Do

  • Acts for administrator & provides program direction by relieving superior of non-routine administrative duties related to new Driver Training Initiatives established under the Ohio Traffic Safety Office (OTSO), Driver Training Program (e.g., develops & provides oversight & management of the Drive to Succeed Program, Juvenile Court Program, & other state grant programs established by OTSO ; independently answers complex &/or confidential inquiries pertaining to OTSO programs; formulates & implements policy, procedure & requirements for new program areas; researches, collects & evaluates data on program areas in order to update policies, procedures, regulations &/or directives; provides technical advice to aid Administrator in decision-making; serves as liaison between administrator & subordinates; transmits decisions & directives)
  • Prepares, distributes, collects, & tracks administrative documents for programs, such as agreements, applications, data submissions & reports
  • Serves as main liaison with high schools, health departments, education service centers, juvenile courts, & other entities OTSO contracts with
  • Establishes grant program requirements for new programs
  • Determines recipient eligibility by reviewing required documentation in accordance with program procedures
  • Prepare RFP to solicit applications for grants
  • Represents administrator at meetings & conferences
  • Manages business function of administrator's office (e.g., submits requisitions & purchase requests; assists with preparation of required state grant applications, reports & technical evaluations; reviews reimbursement claims for accuracy, allowable costs & compliance with state & federal guidelines; etc.)
  • Serves as the administrator for an OTSO state grant management program (e.g., oversees day-to-day operations of OTSO's web-based grant management system; processes & maintains new user account requests; serves as the first line trouble shooter for all issues; creates grant & reporting forms; serves as the liaison between OTSO & the system vendor to ensure optimal system operation; etc.)
  • Trains staff & subrecipients as needed to ensure all system users are up to date on system functionality
  • Updates & maintains system user manual
  • Updates grant related documents as needed (e.g., grant solicitation package, training documents, correspondence, etc.)
  • Manages & coordinates routine programmatic policy & compliance reviews to reduce risk for Driver Training Office
  • Formulates & implements program policies based on compliance review results (e.g., develops program plans & procedures & program measures to minimize risk discovered during review; works with Driver Training staff to implement process improvement measures upon compliance review completion)
  • Uses internal & external tools (e. g., program reviews; complaints; investigation documents; & other Driver Training records; etc.) to review source data to develop recommendations or conclusions & provides advice for use in decision making upon completion of compliance review
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
