GHSA and Ford Motor Company Fund are celebrating a 20-year partnership dedicated to youth traffic safety by awarding grants totaling $94,000 to four states to advance access to safe mobility for teens in underserved and socioeconomically disadvantaged communities.
On Thursday, the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) and the Ford Motor Company Fund announced they will award $94,000 in grants to four states, including New York, to educate teen drivers on roadway safety, with an emphasis on underserved and economically disadvantaged communities.
GHSA, in partnership with Lyft and Responsibility.org, has awarded the Colorado, Maryland, Missouri and Texas State Highway Safety Offices (SHSOs) a total of $80,000 in grant funds to support initiatives that promote the use of ride-hailing rather than driving this holiday season.

The Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA), in collaboration with General Motors (GM), is providing a total of $210,000 to seven State Highway Safety Offices (SHSOs) to combat the prevalent and preventable problem of distracted driving.

Through a grant from Responsibility.org & GHSA, the Missouri Department of Transportation Highway Safety & Traffic Division partnered with the Missouri Safety Center to conduct a survey with law enforcement to gain feedback regarding areas of development of a law enforcement phlebotomy program.
“It’s about being able to leverage technology, & A.I. in this case, to help us better understand what people are doing behind the wheel that potentially puts themselves & others at risk,” said Pam Shadel Fischer, senior director of external engagement for the Governors Highway Safety Association.
