Communications and Public Relations Manager


FCCLA is seeking a creative and strategic communications professional to lead the organization’s national written communications, media outreach, and public relations efforts. This full-time, hybrid position based in Herndon, VA plays a key role in shaping FCCLA’s public voice and elevating its visibility through consistent messaging, compelling storytelling, and thoughtful collaboration across departments.
The ideal candidate is a strong writer and editor who understands how to balance strategy with creativity. They are organized, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple deadlines across a variety of content types and platforms. They bring experience in media relations, communications planning, and content development, and know how to tailor messaging for different audiences while maintaining a cohesive brand voice. This individual works well both independently and as part of a team and is committed to producing polished, impactful communication that supports FCCLA’s mission and goals.
This position oversees FCCLA's newsletters, press releases, written marketing content, and website messaging to ensure clarity, alignment, and impact. This position works closely with the Graphic Design and Marketing Coordinator (who leads visual branding and social media) to ensure all messaging and design efforts are cohesive and audience-focused. This role also contributes to cross-departmental communication by ensuring that all written content supports FCCLA’s programs, partnerships, and national initiatives.
