BTSCRP Update

November 30, 2023 | 3:30 p.m. Eastern | Virtual

Join us for a briefing on the latest publications released by the Behavioral Traffic Safety Cooperative Research Program (BTSCRP), a partnership between GHSA, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Transportation Research Board. GHSA Research Committee Chair Mark Ezzell will moderate and discuss how to submit a research problem statement, sharing a real-world example. We’ll also share the key findings of four recent publications and how you can put this research into practice. Hear from the Washington Traffic Safety Commission’s (WTSC) Max Roberts about a guide developed for State Highway Safety Offices (SHSOs) outlining behavioral strategies for working with rural and tribal communities. WTSC's Staci Hoff will share the e-scooter toolkit, a supplement to a 2022 BTSCRP report, while Edica Esqueda will provide highlights from the report on Metropolitan Planning Organization and SHSO coordination. Sheila Cozzie with the Montana State Highway Traffic Safety Office will provide an overview of the most recent BTSCRP publication that identifies high-risk vulnerable road user behaviors and outlines effective outreach strategies. Don’t miss this important discussion that will feature tips for submitting a research idea for 2024 and how you can lend your expertise to a research panel.
