The Prehospital Blood Transfusion Coalition was recognized for its groundbreaking work to expand access to prehospital blood transfusion across the United States, an innovation that is helping save the lives of people critically injured in motor-vehicle crashes and other traumatic events.
By uniting EMS, highway safety, healthcare, blood-supply partners and government leaders, the Coalition has helped grow the number of prehospital blood programs from fewer than 100 to more than 350, supported changes in state regulations, advanced clinical guidance and training resources, and elevated post-crash care as a national highway safety priority. Its collaborative, evidence-based approach is removing barriers, strengthening emergency response systems and giving more crash victims access to lifesaving blood when minutes matter most.
