Pedestrian deaths decrease — but not everywhere

There were fewer pedestrian deaths on U.S. roads in the first half of 2024 compared to a year prior, but nearly 50% more than a decade ago, a new projection finds.

Youth Active Transportation Safety Grant Result: Washington

In 2024-2025, GHSA partnered with the National Road Safety Foundation (NRSF) to provide a $25,000 grant to the Washington Traffic Safety Commission (WTSC) to launch a new bi-county pedestrian and bicycle education program for Pre-K through middle school students in Garfield and Asotin Counties, two rural counties in Washington.

Youth Active Transportation Safety Grant Result: Oregon

In 2024-2025, through the support of the National Road Safety Foundation (NRSF), GHSA awarded a $25,000 grant to the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) to expand their bike safety education in rural Douglas County through the Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Program led by Thrive Umpqua, in partnership with the Douglas Education Service District (DESD).
