Check to Protect

October 20, 2024

GHSA partners with the National Safety Council to spread the word that it’s important to check your vehicle’s recall status and schedule a free repair.

How Does it Work?

Drivers can quickly check their vehicle’s recall status by entering or uploading a photo of their license plate or 17‑character Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) at checktoprotect.org or check through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website.

The VIN is typically located on the lower-left corner of the windshield, inside the driver-side door, on the vehicle’s registration card, and sometimes on insurance documents.
All recall repairs are free for vehicle owners.
