On the eve of Veterans Day, Responsibility.org is convening a virtual Town Hall discussion to examine challenges and opportunities to help veterans in crisis and to focus specifically on the issue of alcohol use disorders.

America’s veterans and their families have made tremendous sacrifices to secure and defend the freedoms of the United States of America. Many veterans return from their military service strengthened by the experience, but tragically others suffer from treatable conditions that compromise their health and safety.

Alcohol use disorders are the most prevalent form of substance abuse disorder among military. Between 37 and 50 percent of Afghanistan and Iraq War Veterans are diagnosed with some form of mental health condition (SAMSHA). Co-occurring disorders such as PTSD, Substance Abuse Disorders (SUD) and trauma (such as traumatic brain injury) are on the rise.
